Never turn your back on a friend.

Jade, Stef and Zoe are hiking Washington's Bones Hollow Trail, braving cougars, snakes and the storms that roll in without warning. The friends’ paranoia isn’t helped by listening to a true crime podcast about the serial killer whose hunting ground they’re hiking through.

Then when Stef twists her ankle – badly – there’s no one to hear them scream for help. The only sign of life for miles is a cabin that looks straight out of a horror movie, with an owner who’s a little too eager to invite them in.

The friends must soon find a way to survive as things spiral out of control. After all, who can you trust when your back’s against the wall? But unfortunately for them, the only thing more twisted than this nightmare is their friendship...

A fun, creepy and twisty novella that will make you think twice about trying to wriggle into that underground cave you just found. I look forward to seeing what Kelsey Kupitz writes next - she's fast paced, she takes you on a psychological sleigh ride, and it's fun! Good writing, makes you want more from this writer!

Reviews

The Right Thing is a captivating story with plenty of thrills that kept me guessing and felt great to read. I was also shocked to learn that this is a debut novel! Truly a knockout story and can't wait to see what this author has planned next.

A beautifully written novella, full of wit and dark irony with clever characters and twists. Really sharp dialogue. Can’t recommend this book enough for an absorbing and exciting read.

Sleep when the baby sleeps. Blink and you’ll miss this phase!  Don’t forget to think about yourself! The baby will sense your stress! Fed is best! Find your tribe!

Six weeks postpartum with her first child, Samantha’s life is filled with unsolicited parental advice—the most annoying of which comes from her labrador husband, Ross, who is still oblivious to the real reason Sam won’t be returning to her job as a paramedic. But what Samantha knows she needs most is a Mom Friend. Someone who really gets it. Someone she’ll believe when they tell her she’s doing OK. So every day she scrutinizes mothers in the park, hunting for just the right friend to make it all better.

Though perhaps the friend she makes, Aisling, hiding secrets of her own, might not be the most balanced mommy to take advice from. But as fragile as Samantha is, who is she to enforce a healthy boundary, even if her life depends on it?

No one knows what started the fire. All anyone knows is that the flame-scarred cargo ship couldn’t survive the storm that came after. Of the original forty crew and seven passengers, only twenty survive. Even fewer make it to the shore of the uninhabited island. Among them is the only female survivor: paying passenger Fiona Spencer, fearless world traveler.  Now she and the other castaways must survive the elements, their inner demons, and each other in this feminist Lord of the Flies.
